Therapy
Evidence-Based Treatment
In addition to being a researcher and professor, I am a cognitive behavioral therapist. I provide support and teach skills drawn from evidence-based approaches, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am licensed to provide services in New York State (license #025137).
Psychotherapy
I provide evidence-based psychotherapy for a range of mental health concerns. Sessions are usually 50 minutes and conducted remotely by video.
Clients Served
I specialize in working with people who have PTSD, insomnia, depression, and anxiety. However, I have experience treating stress, self-doubt, and grief. Some concerns call for specialized or more intensive care, including psychosis or schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and autism-related support. If you're navigating one of these, I'm glad to help you find a provider who's a better fit.
If you are in crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, immediate help is available: call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911 in an emergency.
Getting Started
I usually start with a free 15-minute phone call to learn about your needs and describe my approach. From there, we can decide whether to schedule an initial appointment to explore whether we're a good fit. If we decide to begin therapy, we'll develop a plan and work toward your goals together in weekly 50-minute sessions.
